LaTeX Equation Editors

Last Updated: 22 May 2015

While LaTeXiT is perhaps the most widely-used equation editor on Mac OS X, are there equilavent tools on the Windows or the Linux side?

  1. TeXeR: a web-based LaTeX editor (not restricted to equations), rendering outputs in PNG or PDF format.
  2. EqualX: a LaTeX equation editor only running on Ubuntu 13/14
  3. KLatexFormula: an easy-to-use graphical user interface for generating images from LaTeX equations, based on Qt 4 and therefore able to run natively on Linux/Windows/Mac OS X. The rendered image can be saved in PNG, JPG, BMP, EPS, or PDF.
